Job summary

Carbon Health is seeking an Urgent Care Medical Assistant for per diem coverage in Simi Valley, CA. You will perform vitals, triage, assist with procedures, administer medications, and conduct point-of-care testing while managing front desk tasks as needed.

DOT certification training may be completed to fulfill required screenings. Ideal candidates have a Medical Assistant certification, BLS, and at least 1 year of MA experience, with phlebotomy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Current BLS certification, willingness to obtain DOT certification.
• 1+ years experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, patient history and triage.
• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care.
• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes, perform ear lavages and run EKGs.
• Conduct lab testing: urinalysis, urine pregnancy, blood glucose, monospot, rapid strep and influenza, rapid HIV testing.
• Manage the front desk and receptionist duties as needed.
• Complete training to become certified with the Department of Transportation for Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests.
