Job summary

Carbon Health is seeking a Per Diem Medical Assistant to support high-volume urgent care and outpatient clinics in the South Bay. The role involves both clinical and administrative tasks, with emphasis on rooming patients, venipuncture, and EMR documentation.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of MA experience, a valid MA certification or diploma, and the ability to float among four clinics and cover weekends or evenings as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of MA experience in outpatient, urgent care, or similar clinical setting.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or diploma per state policy.
• Demonstrated venipuncture experience and proficiency with blood draws and specimen handling.
• Experience in fast-paced, high-volume clinical environments; urgent care experience preferred.
• Willingness to float between four clinics in the South Bay region based on staffing needs.
• Availability to work weekends and variable per diem hours (including evenings/holidays).
• Strong teamwork orientation and ability to collaborate with providers and staff.
• Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication and culturally sensitive patient care.
• CPR/BLS certification or ability to obtain before start date.
• Compliance with occupational health requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform vital signs, patient intake, history collection, and rooming in a high-volume setting.
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection per protocols and safety standards.
• Support providers in urgent care and outpatient visits, including exams, procedures, and treatments.
• Maintain accurate documentation and EMR entries with attention to detail.
• Float between up to four South Bay clinic locations based on staffing needs.
• Deliver excellent customer service and clear communication with patients and care teams.
• Prepare exam rooms, restock supplies, and maintain a clean, safe environment.
• Assist with front/back office workflows including scheduling, check-in/check-out, and insurance verification.
• Collaborate with coworkers to improve patient flow and clinic efficiency.
• Adhere to infection control and confidentiality policies.
