Job summary

Carbon Health, located in Palm Desert, California, is seeking an Urgent Care Medical Assistant on a per diem basis. The role focuses on taking vitals, rooming patients, assisting with procedures, and keeping a fast-paced, paperless clinic running smoothly.

Ideal candidates hold a Medical Assistant credential, current BLS, and have 1+ year MA experience; willingness to obtain DOT certification is required. Flexible weekdays, weekends, and some holidays are available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required where law permits exemption with experience.
• Current BLS certification; willing to obtain DOT certification.
• 1+ years experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals, patient history and triage.
• Assist with procedures such as incision and drainage, lacerations and wound care.
• Administer medications via intradermal, intramuscular and subcutaneous routes; perform ear lavages and run EKGs.
• Conduct lab testing such as urinalysis, pregnancy tests, glucose, monospot, rapid strep and flu tests, rapid HIV testing.
• Manage the front desk and perform receptionist duties as needed.
• Complete training and become certified with the DOT to perform Urine Drug Screens and Breath Alcohol Tests.
