Job summary

Mass General Brigham Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join our Express Care team in Boston. The role supports clinical and non-clinical patient services, takes vital signs, documents information, schedules appointments, and helps manage patient flow.

The position requires 1 on-call shift per 4 weeks and weekend/holiday coverage, with 25 hours weekly. On-site at 137 Stuart Street, Boston, MA, with potential cross-coverage to other centers as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Associate's Degree Medical Assisting preferred.
• Experience: Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required.

Responsibilities

• Assists junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training.
• Show patients to examination rooms, prepare necessary equipment for healthcare providers, interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight and height, and record information in the medical record.
• Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, order and organize educational materials to reinforce patient education.
• Perform general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
• Maintains inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
• Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
• Responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
