Job summary

LCMC Health’s West Jefferson Medical Center seeks a dedicated Unit Secretary to manage clerical tasks and support patient care on the unit. You’ll transcribe orders, maintain patient charts, and greet patients and families with professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

In this role you will collaborate with nurses and care teams, ensure HIPAA-compliant handling of information, and support unit operations with accurate documentation and organized supply areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent work experience.
• 1–3 years of experience as a Secretary or Unit Clerk in healthcare.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Nursing, Medical Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes orders and maintains patient charts while fulfilling receptionist and clerical duties.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to improve patient care and ensure orderly unit operation.
• Maintains documentation consistent with established guidelines to support patient care continuity.
