Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Unit Secretary to support the nursing unit and enhance patient care in a community-focused environment. You will provide vital clerical support, coordinate tests and transportation, and assist patients, families, staff, and visitors at the nursing station.

The role emphasizes accuracy in medical records, efficient transcription of orders, and collaboration to deliver safe, high-quality care. CPR certification and related healthcare study are preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR certification preferred.
• Active enrollment in a healthcare program (such as nursing) preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and transcription of medical orders is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate medical records for patients using appropriate labeling system.

• Accurately/efficiently transcribe medical orders and distributes to other disciplines as needed.
• Act as a helpful resource for patients, families, physicians, and visitors at the nursing station.
• Coordinate unit operations to optimize the delivery of safe patient care.
• Schedule tests, appointments and transportation as needed in a timely manner.
• Serve as a liaison for inquiries, directing them to the appropriate person for resolution.
