The role coordinates patient flow, arranges admissions, discharges, transfers, and patient transport, and updates the EMR accurately. Collaboration with ancillary services and payroll support may be part of duties.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of administrative support experience required.
  • Certified Health Unit Coordinator (NAHUC) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs clerical duties to assist in general administration of the floor or unit.
  • Greets patients and visitors and coordinates information at the central nursing station.
  • Schedules consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transport to other departments.
  • Enters admissions, discharges and transfers into the EMR accurately and timely.
  • Contacts ancillary services to obtain equipment, services and supplies; tracks status.
  • May assist manager with payroll duties or scheduling of staff.
