Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a unit clerk to support admit, discharge and transfer operations on the assigned unit. You will handle reservations, phone management, and timely follow-up on patient and staff requests.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS certification within 90 days, and strong data entry, communication, and organizational skills. Schedule includes two 12-hour shifts per week with rotating weekends.

Qualifications

• Requires strong data entry and clerical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication across patients and staff.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Provide clerical support for the department.
• Respond to patient, family, and staff requests and refer as needed.
• Serve as Patient Experience Ambassador for the unit.
• Assess EPIC chart reports to ensure proper unit charges.
• Adapt communication to the patient population and obtain permissions as needed.
• Other related duties as required.
