Job summary

The role focuses on portfolio objectives, guidelines adherence, and strong agency relationships to drive growth. You will supervise daily operations, mentor staff, and participate in performance reviews while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines and company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree preferred; experience may substitute.
• 5+ years of progressive Property and Casualty underwriting or related experience including claims, agency, etc.
• Ability to translate quantitative and qualitative metrics into decision making.
• Ability to travel to agent, vendor, or conference locales.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to use discretion, critical thinking, and independent judgment to resolve issues and improve processes.

Responsibilities

• Directs activities of the underwriting team to meet portfolio objectives and financial plans.
• Trains and supports the team on processes, procedures, systems, and guidelines.
• Oversees underwriting-related system changes and policy implementation.
• Ensures staffing levels and budgeting to maintain efficiency and cost control.
• Builds and maintains relationships with agents and vendors; travels as needed.
