Job summary

OMS National Insurance Co. in Schaumburg, IL is seeking an Underwriting Technician to support underwriting with new business, endorsements, and renewals.

The role involves handling inquiries, obtaining documents, and coordinating with underwriters to update policyholder status, aiming for timely resolutions. The ideal candidate has a college degree (or equivalent experience), at least five years of related work, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• College degree preferred; will consider a combination of education and related experience
• Five years of related experience
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Experience with PAC, ImageRight, or similar policy administration software a plus

Responsibilities

• New Business: Reviews and issues submissions and refers submissions beyond authority level to underwriter
• New Business: Requests pertinent underwriting file documents and follows up with agents and insureds
• New Business: Follows new business processing timeframes
• Endorsements and Renewals: Assists underwriters in processing endorsements and renewals within established timeframes
• Endorsements and Renewals: Requests pertinent underwriting file documents and renewal information and follows up with agents and insureds
• Customer service for policyholders and agents: Warmly and sincerely receives incoming phone and e-mail inquiries
• Customer service for policyholders and agents: Documents and researches all requests
• Customer service for policyholders and agents: Coordinates with underwriters to update policyholder status and initiate policy changes
• Customer service for policyholders and agents: Follows up with all parties to provide timely, accurate resolution
• Customer service for policyholders and agents: Strives to resolve requests the day received
• Indexes incoming mail through ImageRight
• Supports the application set-up process
• Accurately maintains policyholder information and documents policyholder communication
• Contributes to departmental initiatives and projects
