Job summary

CNA Insurance in Seattle seeks an underwriter to manage risk across the underwriting lifecycle for renewal and new business within limited authority. You will collaborate with underwriters, brokers, and internal teams to gather information and ensure prudent decisions.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and at least three years in related work. Strong communication, analytical skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting including insurance products, policy processing procedures and documentation.
• Strong time management, and analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA’s internal and external business partners.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
• Strong capability to advise and coach others.
• Demonstrated customer service experience and the ability to interact with a wide-variety of people on a daily basis in person, via telephone and email.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite risk for renewal and new business within limited authority.
• Handle endorsements within delegated authority and obtain missing information as needed.
• Triage renewal applications and outline next steps for accounts outside authority.
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve issues (billing, risk control, underwriting guidance).
• Document files to ensure completeness, compliance and quality.
• Execute on advanced pricing strategy using pricing tools in line with underwriting strategies.
• Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners within authority.
• Serve as first-line contact to producers/customers on account matters and identify upsell opportunities.
• Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and conduct field visits.
• Be an expert on systems and workflows and coach others; provide feedback to internal underwriting partners.
• Stay current on line of business strategy, state/territory issues, regulations and trends.
