Job summary

Pike Electric, Inc. is seeking a Groundman to support construction and maintenance of underground electrical distribution systems. The role involves outdoor, physically demanding work under the supervision of a Foreman and requires safety-focused practices on-site.

The position may involve travel to out-of-state job sites and on-call rotation for outages and emergencies. A valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a CDL within 60 days is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and able to obtain a CDL within 60 days.
• Willing to travel long distances on short notice.
• Lift, carry, push, or pull materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work for extended periods at job locations, including out-of-state assignments.
• Willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends, holidays, emergency callouts, and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform new construction, maintain and repair underground distribution systems while putting safety first.
• Help install and repair underground facilities, underground conductors, and related hardware.
• Maintain excavation equipment including backhoes, trenchers, excavators, and pulling equipment.
• Work outdoors in varying environmental conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, wind, and inclement weather.
• Available to work outages, storms, emergencies including on call rotation.
• Follow all safety protocols including PPE use and insulating protective gear to isolate differences of potential.
• Inspect rubber goods and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Understand when to wear personal protective equipment.
• Perform rigorous physical labor.
