Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking an entry-level Underground Groundman to assist with construction, maintenance and repair of underground electrical distribution systems at various locations. Travel to another state may be required to meet customer demands.

The role emphasizes safety, physical labor, and knowledge of line work materials. You will help set transformers, inspect PPE, and follow safety rules on job sites, including working around energized lines and in trenches.

Qualifications

• No experience necessary.
• Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
• A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
• Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Willing to work outside normal schedule including weekends, holidays and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground work.
• Setting pad mount transformers.
• Frequently works around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect lives.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Capable of receiving and following directions.
• Capable of assisting with the installation and hook up of a single phase transformer.
• Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
• Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
• Capable of climbing different types of structures and negotiating trenches and manholes.
• Willing to glove/work live high voltage distribution lines.
