Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking an entry-level Underground Groundman to support construction, maintenance and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. You will work at various locations and may travel to another state depending on customer demands.

The role requires physical labor, adherence to safety rules, and ability to operate and inspect tools and PPE. No experience is required, but English communication and CDL readiness are essential; travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Able to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment.
• A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
• Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Willing to work overtime when requested.

Responsibilities

• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground systems.
• Setting pad mount transformers.
• Capable of working around energized high voltage systems.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Capable of performing basic bucket rescue/escape.
• Capable of climbing different types of structures (wood, steel, etc.) and using necessary tools.
• Works in underground trenches and manholes.
• Able to identify materials used in line work and voltage on circuits.
