Job summary

University of Southern California (USC) Marshall School of Business, Undergraduate Advising & Student Affairs, is seeking an Academic Advisor to support over 4,300 majors and 1,400 minors. The role provides holistic advising, degree progress monitoring, and program coordination in a hybrid work environment.

The position requires a master’s degree in relevant fields and 2+ years of undergraduate advisement experience, with strong communication and confidentiality skills per FERPA.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in student affairs, student development, counseling, higher education, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience advising undergraduates in higher education.
• Strong communication skills with diverse constituents.
• Ability to manage multiple programs and responsibilities.
• Collaborative mindset to meet student needs and department priorities.
• Ability to handle confidential information per FERPA.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
• Experience with office management software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic counseling on curriculum, degree requirements, transfer credits, and graduation.
• Monitor student progress and maintain academic records.
• Advise individuals and groups; coordinate with parents, faculty, and partners.
• Refer students to support services and liaise with other offices.
• Interface with faculty and staff regarding policies and progress.
• Assist in planning student events and special programs.
• Supervise student workers and volunteers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
