Job summary

Axia Women's Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technician to perform high-quality obstetric and diagnostic ultrasound exams. You will prepare patients, acquire images, and present findings to the care team within a multi-location women's health network.

Required RDMS OB/GYN certification and accredited ultrasound training, with preferred obstetric scanning experience. Knowledge of EMR systems and CPT coding is a plus within a supportive, patient-centered environment.

Qualifications

• Formal education and accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program completed.
• RDMS OB/GYN certification required.
• 2 years obstetrical scanning experience preferred.
• FMF or NTQR NT certification preferred.
• ARDMS BR/AB certifications desirable.
• FT certification desirable.
• eClinicalWorks EMR experience beneficial.
• CPT coding knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Reviews prior images and verifies physician orders.
• Prepares patients for procedures, explains steps and positions patient.
• Performs high-quality ultrasound exams per approved techniques.
• Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians.
• Evaluates image quality and interpretations.
• Maintains patient records and ultrasound equipment; sterilizes room.
• Utilizes PACS, EMR and related imaging systems.
• Stocks supplies and maintains compliance and training requirements.
• Trains other Ultrasound Technicians as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Reviews any prior images and imaging reports prior to ultrasound exam.
• Reviews and verifies physician’s orders.
• Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.
• Performs high-quality ultrasound examinations in accordance with approved techniques and protocols, ensuring the transducer (probe) is correctly capturing images.
• Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and healthcare team.
• Evaluates images for quality and interprets images captured.
• Maintains patient records; adds medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and sterilizes room between ultrasound patients.
• Utilizes PACs, EMR, and other systems related to imaging.
• Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.
• Maintains certifications by completing any assigned compliance and continuing education requirements.
• Trains other Ultrasound Technicians as needed.
• Performs other associated duties as assigned.

Qualities & Skills:

• Demonstrated ability to accurately document scan findings.
• Demonstrated thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

Education & Experience:

• Formal education and completion of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required.
• Current RDMS certification from ARDMS in Ob/Gyn required.
• At least 2 years’ recent experience performing obstetrical scanning preferable.
• Current FMF or NTQR certification in NT (Nuchal Translucency) preferable.
• Additional ARDMS certification in Breast (BR) and Abdomen (AB) desirable.
• Additional ARDMS certification and experience in Fetal Echocardiography (FT) desirable.
• eClinicalWorks (EMR) experience beneficial.
• Knowledge of specific order sets and related CPT coding a plus
