Axia Women’s Health is recruiting a Per Diem MFM Sonographer to join Abington Perinatal in Sewell, NJ. Flexible hours, Monday–Friday, with responsibilities for OB/GYN and perinatal ultrasound including NT and growth assessments.

Must hold ARDMS RDMS OB/Gyn and provide diagnostic imaging across high-risk pregnancies. The role requires ARDMS certifications and experience with EMR systems, plus strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Formal education in diagnostic ultrasound is required.
• RDMS OB/Gyn certification is required.
• 2+ years of OB/GYN/perinatal ultrasound experience including NT and growth scans is required.
• FE certification desirable; AB certification is a plus.
• Experience with CPT coding is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and pathology recognition.
• Proficiency with ultrasound equipment and PACS/EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Review prior images and orders before ultrasound exams.
• Perform high-quality ultrasound exams including NT and growth scans.
• Provide accurate data and preliminary findings to physicians.
• Maintain patient records and documentation.
• Train other sonographers as needed.

Position Summary

A Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer is a diagnostic ultrasound professional who is qualified to perform independent sonographic assessments of maternal-fetal conditions. A person in this role must be qualified by academic and clinical experience, along with professional credentialing which should include OB/GYN registry, as well as the nuchal translucency/nasal bone certification. Their responsibility is to provide diagnostic patient care services for routine and high-risk obstetrical cases using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. A MFM sonographer must have advanced knowledge in various fetal conditions and anomalies as well as knowledge of contributing high-risk maternal factors. In addition, the scope of practice of the diagnostic MFM sonographer includes those procedures, acts, and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience. This person must demonstrate competency and must hold the appropriate ARDMS certification(s), which is the standard of practice in ultrasound.

Job Description

• Reviews any prior images and imaging reports prior to ultrasound exam.
• Reviews and verifies physician’s orders.
• Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.
• Performs high-quality ultrasound examinations including comprehensive growth scans and Nuchal Translucency scans in accordance with approved techniques and protocols, ensuring the transducer (probe) is correctly capturing images.
• Evaluates images for quality and interprets images captured; calculates, compiles and records data from numerical readings and records in patient chart.
• Maintains patient records; adds medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
• Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and healthcare team.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and sterilizes room between ultrasound patients.
• Utilizes PACs, EMR, and other systems related to imaging.
• Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.
• Maintains certifications by completing any assigned compliance and continuing education requirements.
• Trains other Sonographers as needed.
• Performs other associated tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• Formal education and completion of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required.
• Current RDMS certification from ARDMS in Ob/Gyn required.
• At least 2 years’ recent experience performing OB/GYN and Perinatal ultrasounds including NT and comprehensive growth scans
• Additional ARDMS certification in Fetal Echocardiography (FT) desirable; Previous experience with FE highly preferable.
• Additional ARDMS certification in Abdomen (AB)
• Previous experience using eClinicalWorks (EMR) beneficial.
• Knowledge of specific order sets and related CPT coding a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to accurately recognize and document pathology identified in scans.
• Demonstrates thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
