Job summary

UKG in Birmingham, AL is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for 600+ employees across multiple states. This onsite role requires strong knowledge of payroll systems (UKG) and tax compliance, with a focus on data integrity and service excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of payroll experience, including multi-state work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Admin or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience, multi-state a plus.
Strong knowledge of payroll systems (UKG preferred) and Excel.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end payroll processing for 600+ employees across multiple states.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Process and reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, benefits, and taxes.
Maintain accurate employee payroll records in the HRIS and payroll systems.
Handle payroll audits and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Prepare and submit tax filings (W-2s, 1099s, etc.).
Stay updated on changes to payroll laws and regulations.
Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity and respond to employee inquiries.
Assist with system upgrades, implementations, and process improvements.
