Job summary

The City of Hialeah is seeking Tutors to support the literacy program across after-school and summer camp sites. Tutors assist teachers, maintain student progress and attendance reports, and help lead homework activities, ensuring materials and lesson plans are ready for each session.

Ideal candidates have tutoring experience, bilingual abilities, and strong communication. This role emphasizes collaboration with staff and a positive, safety-minded approach to guiding children through enrichment

Job description

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK Tutors will be responsible for assisting the Teachers in implementing the daily responsibilities of the literacy program in which they are trained. Tutors will maintain child progress reports as well as attendance reports and any other required paperwork. They will assist the teachers in improving academic and/or enrichment activities and providing social skills-based activities in the after-school and summer camp at each site. The Tutor will also maintain lesson plans as well as have all necessary supplies, worksheets and manuals readily available at each session. Assist in or lead homework activities.

Salary Range: $14.00 - $50.00

ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• Previous experience with the City of Hialeah After-Care Program and/or Summer Camp preferred.
• Bilingual – preferred.

• Previous tutor experience preferred.
• Attend required training sessions to implement program components.
• Ability to provide leadership and work well with children and staff.
• Able to implement enrichment activities or curriculum as assigned.
