Job summary

The City of Hialeah is seeking tutors to assist in implementing the literacy program for after-school and summer camp sites. Tutors will help in daily activities, maintain progress and attendance reports, and support teachers with lesson plans and supplies.

Bilingual ability is preferred, with strong communication and leadership skills to engage children and coordinate with camp staff. Compensation ranges from $14.00 to $50.00 per hour, reflecting part-time opportunities within the City of

Responsibilities

• Assess and track student performance based on grant guidelines.
• Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and courteous manner.
• Assist the Teacher in the literacy component and work with camp counselors to ensure successful implementation.
• Maintain lesson plans and ensure all supplies, worksheets, and manuals are ready for each session.
• Assist in or lead homework activities.
• Uphold City of Hialeah policies including safety and risk management.
• Perform any other tasks assigned.

Salary Range:$14.00 - $50.00DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK Tutors will be responsible for assisting the Teachers in implementing the daily responsibilities of the literacy program in which they are trained. Tutors will maintain child progress reports as well as attendance reports and any other required paperwork. They will assist the teachers in improving academic and/or enrichment activities and providing social skills-based activities in the after-school and summer camp at each site. The Tutor will also maintain lesson plans as well as have all necessary supplies, worksheets and manuals readily available at each session. Assist in or lead homework activities. ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES • Assess and track student performance based on grant guidelines. • Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and courteous manner. • Assist the Teacher in the implementation of literacy component and work with camp counselors to ensure successful implementation. • Uphold all City of Hialeah policies and procedures including those related to safety and risk management. • Perform any other tasks assigned.
