Salary

Salary Range: $14.00 – $50.00 per hour

Job Overview

Part‑time teachers provide instruction and leadership based on selected academic and literary program components. Teachers ensure participants’ progress toward education benchmarks as described in the curriculum through basic skills instruction and assist in or lead homework and literacy activities.

Essential Duties

• Assess and track student performance.
• Communicate with parents/guardians in a professional and courteous manner.
• Work with staff and other Education and Community Services personnel to ensure successful program implementation at a site level.
• Attend required trainings as needed for proper implementation of literacy activities.
• Uphold all City of Hialeah policies and procedures, including safety and risk management.
• Perform any other tasks assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Certified teacher in the State of Florida.
• Certified Bilingual – preferred.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to provide leadership and to teach children.
• Attend required training sessions to implement program components.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident alien.
• Able to implement literacy components and provide instruction to children.
• Able to implement subject‑based curriculum as assigned.
• Must have completed the 55‑hour Child Care Training Courses verified by a Child Care Training Transcript within the first 6 months of hire. Can exempt some of these classes by submitting the Staff Credential Verification.
• Commitment to work year‑round, including after‑school and summer program time frames.

Physical Requirements

• Effective communication and interaction with other employees and the public, including use of telephone and personal contact.
• Physical capability to use and operate various office equipment, such as a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
• Work is performed indoors within a quiet to moderately noisy environment.
• Must be able to lift, carry, or push articles weighing up to 20 lbs.

Minimum Training and Experience

• Certified teacher in the State of Florida.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Attendance of required training sessions to implement program components.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident alien.
