Job summary

Boom Supersonic is seeking a Manager of Turbomachinery Structures and Mechanical Engineering to build and lead the group responsible for the engine's rotating and static hardware, including disks, cases, airfoils, blisks and related systems.

This is a hands-on leadership role that stays close to analysis to ensure the technical integrity of the engine design and its hardware, while driving rapid, disciplined progress.

Qualifications

• Deep experience in turbomachinery or rotating-hardware structures and mechanical design.
• First-principles command of stress and vibration, bound results by hand.
• Strong tolerancing and GD&T with awareness of manufacturing constraints.
• Track record of building and leading technical teams and delivering hard hardware.
• Instinct to lead work, not just the org, and ideally to code and automate.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead the structures and mechanical team across stress, mechanical design, bearings and seals, turbine design, and rotordynamics.
• Own the structural integrity calls and non-conformance dispositions on rotating hardware.
• Set the analytical standard: align fidelity with program needs and validate FE results.
• Stay hands-on, tackle the hardest problems, and push automation with rigor.
• Develop in-house tooling and standards the team uses for analysis and design.
• Grow the team with skilled specialists across disciplines and raise the bar with each hire.
