Job summary

Boom Supersonic is seeking a Turbomachinery Structural Analysis Engineer to own end-to-end structural analysis of rotating and static engine hardware, from disks to casings. You will predict life under major failure modes and build whole-engine models in a fast-paced, fully integrated environment.

You will work with aeromechanics to tune designs, plan engine tests, and push for robust, test-correlated results while advancing automation and standards across the team.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on structural analysis experience on turbomachinery or rotating hardware, or airframe stress with appetite for rotating hardware.
  • Fundamentals: defendable load paths and boundary conditions, and confident judgment on converged results.
  • Life prediction experience in at least LCF, HCF, or creep.
  • Specialty in a technical area and curiosity about others.
  • Ability to make solid engineering calls with incomplete information.

Responsibilities

  • Own structural analysis of rotating and static engine hardware: disks, blisks, shafts, cases, frames, mounts, joints.
  • Predict life across disk burst, LCF, HCF, creep, and thermal-mechanical fatigue.
  • Build structural and thermal whole-engine models and the material models underneath them.
  • Set frequency margin and reduce high-cycle fatigue risk with aeromechanics and aero collaboration.
  • Tailor analyses to needs: quick hand calcs or high-fidelity, test-correlated work.
  • Plan and support engine and rig testing, instrumentation, and post-test correlation.
  • Disposition non-conformances and support redesign on existing parts.
  • Develop tools and automation to improve analysis standards.
