Position: Repairman

Organization Unit: Power Operations, Power Plants

Applicable To: Fossil Fuel Plants

Responsibilities:

• Perform electric arc and gas welding, cutting, brazing, pipefitting, and insulation installation/removal on power plant equipment under supervision, including structural steel erection, piping, and mechanical repairs.
• Work on heavy mechanical equipment, including replacing liner plates, welding repairs, fitting and welding piping, and replacing gaskets and valves.
• Carry out refractory and insulation work on furnace walls, slag tanks, ducts, and other components.
• Operate tools, rigging, scaffolds, and lifting equipment; work from drawings and sketches.
• Ensure safety procedures are followed, including checking for explosive gases and proper equipment isolation.
• Prepare work reports and complete necessary documentation.
• Coordinate with plant operations and maintenance staff.

Qualifications:

• Meet apprenticeship program standards or equivalent qualifications.
• Accurate, steady, calm in emergencies, with physical endurance and no color vision deficiency.

Working Conditions & Hazards:

• Exposure to temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, and inclement weather.
• Potential hazards include falls, burns, arc flashes, and confined space fumes.

Compensation:

Hourly Pay: Grade Step OA 048 Step 1 of 1 (Top Step) - $50.89 USD
