About Ameren Missouri

Ameren Missouri has been providing electric and gas service for more than 100 years, with some of the lowest electric rates in the nation. Our mission is to power the quality of life for our 1.2 million electric and 132,000 natural gas customers across 64 counties and over 500 communities in central and eastern Missouri, including the greater St. Louis area.

Position: Electrical Repairman

Organization Unit: Power Operations, Power Plants

Applicable To: Fossil Fuel Plants, Osage, Keokuk

Duties:
  • Perform installation, repair, and overhaul of electrical systems and equipment in power plants under supervision, including working on rotating shifts or day schedules.
  • Supervise and direct apprentices when necessary.
  • Work with electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, circuit breakers, motors, batteries, and related components.
  • Read and interpret schematics, drawings, and sketches.
  • Ensure equipment is properly isolated and protected before work, following safety protocols.
  • Obtain materials, set up rigging, operate lifting and mobile equipment, and work from scaffolds as needed.
  • Use tools, test equipment, and perform cutting/heating with torches safely, checking for explosive gases beforehand.
  • Document work performed, including sketches and reports.
  • Work independently or with other team members, performing similar or less skilled tasks as required.
Special Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety precautions to protect self and others, especially when working on energized circuits.
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and proper tool and material care.
  • Complete tasks accurately and efficiently, observing safety and quality standards.
Contacts:

Coordinate with dispatchers, plant operations, maintenance, and storeroom personnel.

Working Conditions:

Subject to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, odors, drafts, and weather conditions. Work may involve cramped spaces, artificial lighting, and working at heights.

Hazards:

Potential electrical shocks, burns, flashes, falls, and exposure to noxious fumes in confined spaces. Adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

Qualifications:

Meet standards established in the Apprenticeship Program or as per the Promotion Agreement. Must be accurate, steady, calm in emergencies, physically capable, and have normal color vision.

Compensation:

Hourly pay at Grade Step OA 048 Step 1 of 1 (Top Step): $50.89 USD. Position is eligible for annual incentive payments based on company performance. For more benefits details, visit our Benefits & Perks page.
