About Ameren Missouri

Ameren Missouri has been providing electric and gas service for more than 100 years, with some of the lowest electric rates in the nation. Our mission is to power the quality of life for 1.2 million electric and 132,000 natural gas customers across 64 counties and over 500 communities in central and eastern Missouri, including the greater St. Louis area.

Position: Machinist Repairman

Organization Unit: Power Operations, Power Plants

Applicable To: Fossil Fuel Plants

Responsibilities:
  1. Perform plant mechanical equipment installation, repair, and overhaul, including skilled machinist work with tolerances as low as +/-.0005”.
  2. Work on equipment such as turbines, pumps, compressors, conveyors, pulverizers, coal samplers, feeders, pulleys, overhead cranes, soot blowers, safety valves, blowers, and power transmission equipment.
  3. Read and interpret drawings and sketches.
  4. Ensure equipment is properly isolated and protected before work.
  5. Obtain materials, set up rigging, operate lifting and mobile equipment, and work from scaffolds as needed.
  6. Use shop tools, portable power tools, hand tools, and test equipment to complete tasks.
  7. Operate cutting and heating torches safely, checking for explosive gases beforehand.
  8. Prepare work reports and sketches as necessary.
  9. Collaborate with other machinists or repair classifications as assigned.
  10. Perform similar or less skilled work as required.
Special Responsibilities:
  • Follow safety precautions and safeguard procedures.
  • Supervise and ensure safety compliance of workers under direction.
  • Perform work accurately without disturbing other equipment.
  • Complete tasks promptly and correctly.
  • Maintain high standards of work within specified tolerances.
  • Care for tools and materials, and keep work areas clean and safe.
Contacts:

Interact with Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Storeroom personnel.

Working Conditions:

Work involves temperature extremes, noise, dust, fumes, odors, drafts, and weather variability. Tasks may require working in confined spaces and at heights.

Hazards:

Potential hazards include equipment failure, falls from heights, and exposure to noxious fumes. Strict safety adherence is mandatory.

Qualifications:

Meet standards set by the Apprenticeship Program or equivalent requirements. Must be accurate, steady, calm in emergencies, physically capable, and have no color vision deficiency.

Compensation:

Hourly pay at Grade Step OA 048 Step 1 of 1 (Top Step) is $50.89 USD. The position is eligible for annual incentives based on company performance. Visit our Benefits & Perks page for more details.
