Position: Machinist Repairman

Organization Unit: Power Operations, Power Plants

Applicable To: Fossil Fuel Plants

Responsibilities:

• Perform mechanical equipment installation, repair, and overhaul, including skilled machinist work with tight tolerances (+/-.0005").
• Work on equipment such as turbines, pumps, compressors, conveyors, pulverizers, coal samplers, feeders, pulleys, overhead cranes, soot blowers, safety valves, blowers, and power transmission equipment.
• Read and work from drawings and sketches.
• Ensure equipment is properly isolated and protected before work.
• Obtain materials, set up rigging, operate lifting and mobile equipment, shop tools, and portable power tools.
• Operate cutting and heating torches, checking for gases before use.
• Prepare work reports and sketches as needed.
• Work independently or with other team members and perform less skilled tasks as required.

Special Responsibilities:

• Follow safety precautions and safeguards.
• Supervise and ensure safety compliance of others under direction.
• Perform work accurately within specified tolerances.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas.

Interact with Plant Operations, Maintenance, and Storeroom personnel.

Working Conditions:

Subject to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, fumes, odors, drafts, and weather conditions. May work in confined spaces and at heights.

Hazards:

Potential exposure to equipment failure, falling hazards, and noxious fumes.

Qualifications:

• Meet standards established in the Apprenticeship Program or equivalent.
• Be accurate, steady, calm in emergencies, and physically capable.
• Must have no color vision deficiencies.

Compensation:

Hourly pay at top step: $50.89 USD. Eligible for annual incentives based on company performance.
