Job summary

Render is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead Trust & Safety within its Security team. You will keep the platform trusted by preventing fraud and abuse, protecting customers, and guiding engineers in incident response and preventive investments.

You'll work with Product, Infrastructure, and Legal to translate threats into practical engineering work and ensure scalable protections across the customer lifecycle, while championing a healthy, inclusive team culture.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience managing and developing engineers.
• Strong background in software and security engineering.
• Experience building or operating systems for fraud prevention, abuse detection, Trust & Safety, or adversarial security.
• Experience leading teams with on-call or incident response responsibilities.
• Ability to translate threats into clear priorities and milestones.
• Experience using data to evaluate detection quality and operational problems.
• Clear communication across engineering and business teams.
• Empathy, integrity, and ownership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Trust & Safety engineering team through hiring, mentorship, and career development.
• Define the team's roadmap balancing investigations and prevention investments.
• Guide design and delivery of systems that detect phishing, malicious workloads, and platform abuse.
• Build investigation and enforcement tooling with context for responders.
• Lead incident response coordination with other teams.
• Establish on-call practices, ownership, runbooks, and escalation paths.
• Partner with Product and Engineering to place protections in customer lifecycle.
• Turn attacker behavior knowledge into preventive improvements.
• Define metrics for losses, detection, and response to guide investment.
