Job summary

Partiful seeks an experienced engineer to lead Trust & Safety with a backend-leaning focus. You will build AI-driven real-time decision systems, monitor abuse trends, and shape scalable, secure infrastructure on GCP. The role blends policy enforcement with product reliability in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll collaborate across Ops, Support, Data Science, and Product to balance safety with user experience, and you’ll contribute to a culture of ownership and speed. Hybrid, NY-based.

Qualifications

• 3–11 years of full-stack, infrastructure engineering, or applied machine learning experience.
• 2+ years of trust & safety experience; consumer social is a plus.
• Experience building enforcement systems end-to-end: detection, pipelines, escalations, appeals.
• Fluency with abuse vectors on consumer platforms.
• Knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for trust systems.
• Experience with serverless or event-driven systems at scale.
• Strong CI/CD practices and observability basics.
• Familiarity with Sentry and GCP logging/metrics.
• Solid networking, security, and performance tuning fundamentals.
• Comfort with Typescript/Node.js; builder mindset and AI tooling
• Ownership mindset, fast timelines, bias toward action.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement AI-powered systems for real-time decisions and policy enforcement at scale.
• Build observability tooling to monitor abuse trends and respond to new threats.
• Balance risk and user experience; minimize friction for trusted users.
• Collaborate across functions: define policy with Ops, enable Support, work with Data Science.
• Join on-call rotation for Trust & Safety incidents and improve prevention.
• Design and maintain scalable, secure infrastructure across GCP services.
• Work with engineers to design performant APIs, databases, and backends.
• Drive the Trust & Safety roadmap; align safety with business needs.
• Contribute to a fast-moving, ambitious team shaping T&S foundations at Partiful.
