Job summary

The Salvation Army in Glasgow, KY seeks a part-time Store Driver Helper to support the thrift operation. You will drive a Salvation Army truck to scheduled routes, pick up donations, and deliver merchandise to customers while ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

You will assist in lifting and sorting donated items, help in the thrift store and warehouse, and participate in maintaining order and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required or preferred.
• One year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van.
• Valid Driver's License must be current.
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Confers with warehouse supervisor to schedule pickups and ensure items are collected.
• Assist driver in lifting and stacking donations and unloading at the warehouse.

Schedule/Hours:20-25 Hours Per Week

This position is responsible for:

Drive Salvation Army trucks to scheduled route to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers; operates the truck in compliance with established Salvation Army standards and state driving regulations: lifts, carries, loads, and unloads a variety of donations, including furniture, appliances, clothing, etc.; ensures the safety, security, and accountability of the vehicle and contributions at all times; assists in performing work in the thrift store and warehouse. Additionally, assist in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.

Key Responsibilities

• Confers regularly with the warehouse supervisor to maintain awareness of scheduled pick-ups of donations according to the established policy; ensures items are picked up.
• Assist driver in lifting and stacking donations in the truck and unloading the truck at the warehouse
• Receives, inspects, and sorts donated items such as clothes, shoes, household items, brick-a-brack, etc., according to category and condition; schedules and records donation pick-ups.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.

Ability to lift and carry moderate to heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.)

Ability to stand, walk, sit, and stand for extended periods and on a frequent change basis.

Work requires driving a vehicle and working in a warehouse with exposure to the outdoors, where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
