Job summary

The Salvation Army A Georgia Corp in Daytona Beach, FL is seeking a part-time store associate who drives a Salvation Army vehicle to pick up donations, assist customers, and perform routine truck duties. The role requires lifting heavy items and delivering purchases, with shifts Tue–Sat for about 6 hours per day.

Qualifications

• Six months experience lifting and hauling heavy items such as appliances and furniture.
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route to pick-up donations and assists drivers.
• Inspects donated items to ensure they meet policy and explains accepted items.
• Lifts, carries, and packs donations, maximizing space and safety.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers and ensures accuracy.
• Maintains relationships with donors to promote a positive image of The Salvation Army.
• Unloads donations at the warehouse and sorts items accordingly.
• Loads items for transport to the dump.
• Delivers appliances and furniture purchased by customers.
• Performs routine maintenance of the truck and basic repairs as needed.

Job Location: FLA-Daytona Beach Thrift - Holly Hill, FL 32117, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly, Job Shift: Weekend , Job Category: Store, Schedule/Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, about 6 hours/day (up to 29 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.
• Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
• Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.
• Loads truck of items to be taken to the dump.
• Delivers appliances and furniture purchased by customers.
• Performs routine maintenance of the truck; checks fluid levels on a regular basis; coordinates and may participate in repair work as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
• Ability to become and remain certified to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.

Licenses & Certifications
