Job summary

The Salvation Army in Daytona Beach area is offering a part-time store position with weekend focus and benefits. The role involves driving a Salvation Army vehicle to collect donated items, inspecting goods for policy compliance, and assisting in loading and delivering appliances and furniture.

Responsibilities

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route to pick up donated items.
• Inspects donated items briefly and explains what can be accepted.
• Lifts and loads donations into the truck, arranging space safely.
• Prepares donation receipts and ensures accuracy.
• Maintains good relationships with donors to promote the organization.
• Unloads donations at the warehouse and distributes items accordingly.
• Loads items for disposal and delivers customer-purchased appliances or furniture.
• Performs routine truck maintenance and checks fluid levels.

Job Location: FLA-Daytona Beach Thrift - Holly Hill, FL 32117, Position Type: Part Time with Benefits 20 or More, Salary Range: $15.00 - $15.00 Hourly, Job Shift: Weekend , Job Category: Store, Schedule/Hours: Tuesday – Saturday, about 6 hours/day (up to 29 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

• Rides in a Salvation Army truck on a scheduled route in order to pick-up donated items; assists in navigating driver to destinations by reading a map and/or hand-written directions.
• Inspects donated items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explains policy to customers regarding the types of items that can be accepted.
• Lifts, carries, and/or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety.
• Prepares donation receipts for customers; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
• Maintains good relationship with donors to promote a favorable image of The Salvation Army.
• Unloads donations from truck upon arrival at warehouse; distributes items to appropriate locations in the warehouse.
• Loads truck of items to be taken to the dump.
• Delivers appliances and furniture purchased by customers.
• Performs routine maintenance of the truck; checks fluid levels on a regular basis; coordinates and may participate in repair work as needed.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Work requires riding in a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
• Ability to become and remain certified to drive a Salvation Army vehicle.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU

Licenses & Certifications

Valid State Driver’s License required, with ability to meet Salvation Army driving requirements for insurance purposes and remain qualified to drive a Salvation Army vehicle throughout the course of employment in this position.
