Job summary

Baker Tilly US is seeking to expand its Consulting practice with a Manager who will provide accounting services and grant management for Tribal governments. You will deliver a range of services and contribute to high-value deliverables for clients.

The role emphasizes collaboration across departments, development of policies, and readiness for audits, with occasional travel to client sites and industry events. A Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience, not-for-profit and/or governmental experience.
• Experience in grants management, financial accounting incl. account reconciliation, governmental accounting standards implementation, and/or accounts payable processing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including commitment to exceptional client service.
• Ability to travel ~10–15%.

Responsibilities

• Performs operational, accounting, and consulting services for Tribal governments, including monthly closing, grants management, grant reporting, and financial reporting to key decision makers.
• Prepares polished deliverables for clients; ensures timely client deliverables.
• Develops policies and procedures on key accounting matters.
• Collaborates with clients to understand current business practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop updated policies and procedures.
• Performs project start up activities, follows project work plans, adheres to schedules, and attends kickoff meetings.
• Coordinates with clients during the audit process, including helping clients prepare for audits.
• Assists with growing the practice; reviews the work of self and team for accuracy.
• Serves as an integral member of our Business Consulting Services team.
• Occasionally travels to client locations, firm trainings, or industry conferences.
