Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a Climber to perform tree trimming and removal under the Foreperson’s direction. The role emphasizes climbing, pruning, and debris removal while upholding strict safety standards and efficient site practices.

You will use hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers and gas-powered chain saws, inspect tools for proper operation, and assist in storm restoration duties when required. A high school diploma is preferred; must pass background check and drug screen; travel may

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming/removal operations
• Must climb/descend trees using rope and safety saddle
• Must administer emergency rescue techniques including tree rescue and first aid techniques
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and operating procedures near conductors and aerial rescue
• Must work at considerable heights under varying/adverse weather
• Must have physical strength, agility, balance, depth perception, and hearing for instructions
• Must remove yourself quickly from danger areas
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
• Must wear required PPE
• Must travel for storm restoration work when needed

Responsibilities

• Always follow and help enforce safe practices and rules
• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into brush chipper
• Work from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all tools and equipment
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards by enforcing safe practices, keeping area clean, and communicating with co-workers
• Perform duties for storm work as needed
