Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services is seeking a Climber to perform climbing, pruning, and removal of trees under a Foreperson's direction. This role requires working at height, strict safety adherence, and operating hand tools and gas-powered saws to process logs and debris.

Prior experience in vegetation management or related fields is preferred and candidates must pass background checks, drug screening, and obtain first-aid/CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations
• Must be able to climb and descend trees using rope and safety saddle
• Must be able to administer and implement emergency rescue techniques, including tree rescue and all applicable first aid techniques
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and appropriate operating procedure near electrical conductors
• Must be able to work at considerable heights under varying weather conditions
• Must possess physical strength and agility, good balance and depth perception
• Must be able to obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
• Must be able to wear necessary PPE
• Must be able to travel out of town for storm restoration work

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson's directives
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; feed brush into brush chipper
• Work from ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers and gas-powered chain saws
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all assigned tools and equipment
• Safeguard employees and public from hazards by enforcing safe practices and keeping the area clean
• Perform duties for storm work as needed
