Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a Climber to perform tree climbing, pruning, and removal tasks with emphasis on safety and efficiency. The role requires handling ropes, rigging gear, and steep terrain to protect crews and the public while following Foreperson directions.

Responsibilities include loading gear, inspecting tools, and participating in storm restoration efforts as needed. A strong safety mindset and ability to work at heights are essential for success in this field.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations
• Able to climb and descend trees using rope and safety saddle
• Must administer emergency rescue techniques and first aid procedures
• Must be familiar with electrical hazards and procedures near conductors and aerial rescue
• Must be able to work at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather
• Must possess physical strength, balance, depth perception, and hearing instructions
• Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR
• Must wear necessary PPE
• Must travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed

Responsibilities

• Climb, prune, and remove trees according to Foreperson’s directives
• Load and unload trucks with logs, brush, and debris; operate brush chipper
• Work from the ground using hand saws, pole saws, pruners, loppers, and gas-powered chain saws
• Inspect and ensure proper working condition of all tools and equipment
• Safeguard employees and the public by enforcing safe practices and keeping the area clean
• Perform duties for storm work as needed
