Job summary

Elite Maintenance & Tree Service in California is seeking a dependable Tree Care Groundsman to support climbers and the crew on daily tree care operations, safety, and quality workmanship. You will operate chippers, chainsaws, stump grinders, and other gear, assist with rigging, loading, and site cleanup, and communicate professionally with customers.

No climbing experience is required; training is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous landscaping/tree care/outdoor labor experience preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn professional tree care practices and equipment operation.
• Ability to safely perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist Tree Climber and Crew Leader with daily tree care operations.
• Safely operate and assist with chippers, chainsaws, stump grinders, blowers, and other tree care equipment.
• Feed brush and branches into the chipper following proper safety procedures.
• Assist with ropes, rigging, lowering, and handling of branches and wood.
• Drag, stack, and process brush and debris from work areas.
• Assist with tree removals, pruning, and cleanup operations.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site throughout the project.
• Safely load and secure logs, brush, and green waste for transportation.
• Assist with traffic and pedestrian control around work zones when required.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report mechanical or safety concerns.
• Participate in daily JSA, safety tailgate meetings, and stretch-and-flex activities.
• Follow company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices.
• Communicate effectively with the climber, crew leader, and other team members.
• Provide professional customer service and represent Elite Maintenance & Tree Service positively.
• Perform other duties related to tree care operations as assigned.

Tree Care Groundsman

Elite Maintenance & Tree Service is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-focused Tree Care Groundsman to join our growing team. The Groundsman plays a critical role in supporting the climber and crew while ensuring tree care projects are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Position Responsibilities

Assist the Tree Climber and Crew Leader with daily tree care operations.

Safely operate and assist with chippers, chainsaws, stump grinders, blowers, and other tree care equipment.

Feed brush and branches into the chipper following proper safety procedures.

Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Valid driver's license preferred.

Experience operating a chipper, chainsaw, or stump grinder is a plus.

OSHA, CPR/First Aid, or tree care training is a plus.
