Job summary

Elara Caring Bloomington, IN is seeking a Special Care Aide (SCA) to join our home-based care team on a flexible PRN schedule. You’ll be the first face new clients see, helping create a positive start to care and serving as a critical link between clients and our branch team.

This role offers variety, travel between clients, and opportunities to broaden skills with path toward leadership within Personal Care Services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required where state regulations apply.
• Minimum six (6) months of experience caring for elderly or disabled individuals.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification required prior to first client contact.
• Home Health Aide, Personal Care Aide, Homemaker, CNA, MA, or similar certification where required.
• Basic technology skills and comfort using mobile devices, apps, and electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Support new client admissions and Start of Care visits.
• Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, dressing, and hygiene.
• Prepare meals and assist with daily living activities.
• Perform light housekeeping and household support.
• Assist with errands and transportation when appropriate.
• Monitor and report changes in client condition.
• Maintain accurate documentation and visit records.
• Provide coverage for open shifts, call-offs, and urgent staffing needs.
• Travel throughout the assigned service area to support clients.
• Promote Elara Caring's mission and commitment to quality care.
