Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. seeks a NETA Field Service Technician to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems.

You will travel to customer sites, perform transformer and relay tests, and ensure safe, high-quality service across industrial and commercial environments. Required qualifications include 2+ years in switchgear testing, NETA or equivalent certification preferred, and strong PC skills (Excel).

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
• Prefer an Associate’s degree from a technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or an Electrical Engineering degree from ABET accredited college.
• NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar desired.
• Must have 2+ years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; PowerDB a plus.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and data collection on electrical systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance).
• Test electro-mechanical and solid state relays; cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and switchgear/test circuit breakers.
• Occasionally rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies promptly.
