Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a NETA Field Service Technician to perform electrical testing, maintenance and repair on distribution systems and equipment. You will travel to customer sites to inspect, test and data-collect on LV–HV systems, including transformers, relays and switchgear.

The role requires driving locally/regionally, staying safe with electrical procedures and being able to work flexible hours. OSHA/NFPA70-E training is a plus and travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
• Prefer an Associate's degree in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or an EE degree from ABET accredited college.
• NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar desired.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Excel; PowerDB a plus.
• Must work safely and adhere to electrical safety procedures.
• OSHA-30, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training preferred (training available).

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up and collect data on low to high voltage systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance).
• Test electro-mechanical and solid-state relays; cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot ATS, low/medium/high voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.
• Calibrate relays and perform power metering; rotate on-call duty for emergencies.
