Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a NETA Field Service Technician to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems and equipment. The role involves fieldwork at customer sites, data collection, and ensuring safe, high-quality service.

Responsibilities include testing high voltage equipment, instrument transformers, relays, and switchgear, with travel and on-call duties as needed. OSHA/NFPA training preferred; background checks required.

Qualifications

• Must have 2+ years of relevant experience performing switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Excel; PowerDB experience is a plus.
• Ability to drive daily locally/regionally and travel overnight as needed.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up and collect data on HV/LV electrical systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance).
• Test electro-mechanical and solid state relays; perform cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot ATS, switchgear, and circuit breakers; calibrate relays and measure power.
