Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated seeks an Experienced Generator Technician to maintain and repair emergency and standby generators across client sites in the Asheville, Charlotte, Fort Mill and Greenville region. This role requires travel up to 75% and independent problem solving in mechanical and electrical systems.

You will perform preventive maintenance, testing (load transfers, NFPA 110 compliance), and coordinate parts and service providers while keeping thorough CMMS records and safety

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in generator maintenance and repair, including diesel, propane and natural gas systems.
  • Proven experience with generator controller software and licensing (or ability to obtain) when required.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA 110, maintenance schedules, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Ability to perform load bank testing & thermal inspections, and fuel/oil sampling for analysis by a 3rd party.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems, including ATS and control panels.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs on diesel and natural gas generators, including ATS, control panels, fuel and cooling systems, exhaust, and batteries.
  • Conduct operational testing, including monthly load transfer tests and annual load testing per NFPA 110.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve generator system issues across electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Maintain CMMS records of maintenance, inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with vendors for major repairs, annual inspections, and testing, while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
