Job summary

Uniti is seeking a Construction Tech - Splicer to splice fiber optic and copper cables in outdoor and indoor settings. You will read schematics, maintain splicing records, and oversee outside plant activities while ensuring safety and project timelines. Travel may exceed 50% of the year and overtime may be required.

The role requires at least 1 year of splicing experience or related trade school certification, physical ability to lift 75 pounds, and a valid driver’s license with CDL eligibility.

Qualifications

• 1 year of copper or fiber splicing experience or related trade school certification.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather and at heights.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the year.

Responsibilities

• Splice fiber optic and copper cables using hand tools or epoxy.
• Construct splice cases including grounding and sealing.
• Read staking sheets and blueprints.
• Follow industry standards and safety procedures.
• Prepare engineering field notes and records.
• Support project contracts during engineering, permit and construction.
• Measure signal strength at utility poles with test equipment.
• Inspect lines and locate faults.
• Perform routine maintenance and outside plant construction tasks.
