Job summary

Uniti is seeking a Splicer to join the construction team in Perry, GA. You will splice fiber optic and copper cables in outdoor and indoor settings, maintain splicing records, and ensure safety protocols on-site. Travel up to 50% of the year is required, with overtime as needed.

Responsibilities include reading schematics, preparing field notes, and coordinating with engineers during project timelines while maintaining inventory and DOT vehicle checks.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions year-round.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
• Willingness to rotate on-call, days/nights/weekends/holidays/overtime as needed.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain CDL post-hire.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.
• Strong time-management and attention to detail for paperwork.

Responsibilities

• Splice cables using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
• Splice fiber optic and copper cables including loose tube and ribbon types.
• Read and interpret staking sheets and blueprints.
• Work according to industry and RUS standards; follow engineers’ instructions and safety procedures.
• Prepare field notes and update splice records, diagrams and drawings.
• Maintain safety on site and oversee DOT vehicle inspections.
• Participate in engineering, permitting and construction processes as required.
• Measure signal strength at poles using test equipment.
• Inspect and test lines, record results and locate faults.
• Perform routine maintenance and address route issues on site.
