Job summary

Ledcor is seeking experienced Excavator Operators to join our telecom construction crews across Arizona and surrounding states, with project rotations roughly every four weeks. You will safely operate a CAT 308 mini excavator and contribute to earthwork and utility installation efforts on civil projects.

Qualified candidates bring 5+ years of excavator experience, familiarity with backfill and compaction, and a strong safety mindset. Travel is required, with full health benefits and LOA offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of excavator experience in civil construction, roadbuilding, utility construction or related industry.
• Experience with fiber optic or underground utility installation is a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of backfill placement, lift thickness, soil moisture and compaction requirements.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret utility locates.
• Strong safety knowledge and safe digging practices.
• Valid driver's license and physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a CAT 308 mini excavator for civil construction and earthwork activities.
• Safely excavate around underground utilities following locate and safe-dig procedures.
• Place soil and aggregate in appropriate lifts to allow for effective compaction.
• Recognize how different soil types respond to moisture and compaction.
• Support crews with conduit placement and cable installation to keep production moving.
• Complete daily inspections and basic maintenance checks to keep equipment running.
• Perform hands-on laborer duties and crew support as needed.
• Communicate clearly with crew and supervisors to meet daily project goals.
