Job summary

Ledcor is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our telecom construction crew across Arizona and neighboring states. This role involves operating a CAT 308 mini excavator on civil projects, digging safely around underground utilities, and supporting conduit and cable installation.

The position requires at least five years of excavator experience in civil construction or related fields, with a strong understanding of soil, moisture, and compaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years excavator experience in civil construction or related industry.
• Experience with fiber optic/underground utilities is a strong asset.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret utility locates.
• Knowledge of backfill placement, lift thickness, soil conditions and compaction.
• Valid driver’s license; able to lift up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a CAT 308 mini excavator for civil construction.
• Excavate around underground utilities following locate procedures.
• Place soil and aggregate in lifts for compaction.
• Assess soil moisture and compaction requirements.
• Assist conduit placement and cable installation.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
• Assist with hands-on labor and team support.
• Communicate with crew to meet daily project goals.
