Job summary

Ledcor Heavy Civil is seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our telecom construction crews. You will safely operate a CAT 308 mini excavator on civil projects across Arizona and surrounding states, with rotations roughly every four weeks.

Requirements include 5+ years in civil/construction, ability to read drawings, and safe digging practices. We offer competitive hourly wages, LOA, health benefits, and a path for long-term field careers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of excavator experience in civil construction, roadbuilding, utility construction or related industry.
• Experience with fiber optic or underground utility installation is a strong asset.
• Strong understanding of backfill placement, lift thickness, soil conditions, moisture, and compaction requirements.
• Ability to read drawings and interpret utility locates.
• Strong understanding of safe digging practices and job site safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Safely and efficiently operate a CAT 308 mini excavator for civil construction and earthwork activities.
• Safely excavate around underground utilities, following locate and safe-dig procedures.
• Place soil and aggregate in lifts to aid compaction.
• Support crews with conduit placement and cable installation to maintain production.
• Complete daily inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Perform hands-on laborer duties and crew support as needed.
• Communicate clearly with crew and supervisors to meet daily project goals.
