Terracon is seeking a Traveling Construction Materials Technician to join our team on nationwide projects. This role involves 100% travel across the North Central region and beyond, performing field testing, observation, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.

You will prepare data and reports for the Project Manager, maintain equipment, and adhere to strict safety standards while working across diverse sites and teams.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
• Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% and for extended periods of time without the ability to travel home.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules, including overtime, weekends, and extended shifts as project demands require.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and the specified procedures.
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising sound judgment, accountability, and initiative while consistently meeting quality and productivity expectations.
• Equally effective in collaborative team environments, integrating into new teams, contributing constructively to shared objectives and working across a variety of geographic location and work environments to achieve project goals.
• Ability to adapt to changing project environments, jobsite conditions, and diverse team structures.
• Strong safety mindset with the ability to proactively identify site‑specific hazards, assess changing field conditions, follow established safety procedures, and take appropriate action to mitigate risk.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to quickly build productive working relationships with peers, supervisors, clients, and field personnel while fostering a strong culture of safety and collaboration.
