Job summary

Hawthorne Health is hiring dual-credentialed Cardiac and Vascular Sonographers for a per diem, independent contractor role. You will travel regionally to perform in-home echocardiograms and vascular studies, setup portable ultrasound equipment, and ensure adherence to ASE protocols.

Travel expenses, including mileage or flights, are reimbursed per visit. Requires active registration in cardiac and vascular imaging and BLS, plus a valid driver’s license and reliable internet access.

Qualifications

• Active registration in cardiac and vascular imaging (e.g. RDCS or RCS plus RVT or RVS).
• BLS certification.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel locally/regionally.
• Access to a PC and reliable internet; tech savvy and self-sufficient.
• Ability to work independently in non-traditional settings.
• Excellent patient communication and bedside manner.
• Adaptability in dynamic, field-based environments.
• Time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Travel locally or across state lines to patient homes to conduct visits, volume varies by region.
• Transport and set up portable ultrasound equipment.
• Explain procedures and obtain informed cooperation from participant.
• Perform echocardiograms and vascular imaging studies per protocol.
• Monitor patient comfort and safety during imaging.
• Follow sponsor and protocol-specific imaging guidelines.
• Ensure accurate image acquisition and proper labeling for cardiology review.
• Complete preliminary report with measurements and sonographer comments.
• Maintain high-quality standards consistent with ASE Standards.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of imaging equipment.
