Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist with at least 2 years of OR experience for an acute care hospital's main OR and pavilion surgical units.

Position includes variable 6am–9am start times, 10- or 12-hour shifts, and a call requirement. Cerner Surginet EMR is used, with anesthesia provided by anesthesiologists. Strong benefits and possible housing/travel support are noted.

Qualifications

• Active state or compact (NLC) license required for the state of submission, if applicable.
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration.
• Two professional references with dates of employment and eligibility for rehire.

Responsibilities

• Work in hospital OR setting with 4 beds in main OR and 8 beds in pavilion.
• Care for orthopedic total joint, neuro, ortho spine, cardiovascular, general, gyn, urology, and ENT cases.
• Handle 15–25 cases per day; ~400 per month; 20–25% inpatient.
• CV and robotic cases assigned to experienced techs; 1:1 nurse-to-case ratio.
• Uses Cerner Surginet EMR; shifts start between 6am–9am with 10/12-hour options; no evenings or weekends.
• Call requirement: 1 shift/week and every 4th weekend; holidays covered; no floating.
• Anesthesia by anesthesiologists; critical patients transferred to ICU from OR.
• Org has a charge nurse; scrub techs on unit; orientation and preceptor pairing.
• Unit follows specific processes; 26-week contracts preferred; scrub technicians utilized.

• BLS certification required
• Cerner Surginet experience strongly preferred
• Active state or compact (NLC) license required for the state of submission, if applicable
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital OR setting with 4 beds in the main OR and 8 beds in the pavilion
• Patient population includes orthopedic total joint cases, neuro and ortho spine, cardiovascular, general, gynecology, urology, and ENT cases
• Handle 15-25 cases per day, approximately 400 cases per month, with 20-25% inpatient cases
• CV and robotic cases only assigned to techs with relevant experience
• 1:1 nurse-to-case ratio with nurses circulating; scrub experience is a plus but not required
• Uses Cerner Surginet EMR
• Variable shift starts between 6am-9am, 10 or 12 hour shift options, no evenings or weekends
• Call requirement of 1 shift per week and every 4th weekend
• Holidays covered through call rotation
• No floating required
• Anesthesia handled exclusively by anesthesiologists (no CRNAs)
• Critical patients are transferred directly to ICU from the OR
• Charge nurse is present and does not take patients or cases
• Facility provides scrub attire
• One week of paperwork orientation followed by one week partnered with a preceptor
• OR suites follow particular and specific processes
• 26-week contracts preferred by the facility
• Scrub technicians are utilized on this unit
